I thought that was a better idea than Arthas just becoming the primary identity of the LK and removing Ner'Zul from the story.

Regarding Kael'Thas, I meant that by having the book show the character in a bad light Blizzard perhaps hoped people would be less upset over the character's fate in TBC because "Hey! Looks like he was a bad apple from the start".The Lizard Kinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12820313880174559751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7876216494183628999.post-74983475330554510812014-10-02T18:34:46.737-07:002014-10-02T18:34:46.737-07:00As for Kael'Thas, I didn't think the fact ...As for Kael'Thas, I didn't think the fact he was a creepy controlling older man with an infatuation with Jaina necessarily foreshadows his becoming an omnicidal maniac. It is hard to believe he's the same Prince from WC3, though. I do think he was a nice subversion of the love-triangle arc, though. Jaina was never torn between the two but Kael'Thas thought she was.CTPhippshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04226189019351004118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7876216494183628999.post-62912563649481409992014-10-02T18:32:24.508-07:002014-10-02T18:32:24.508-07:00Well, I didn't mind it so much because I think...Well, I didn't mind it so much because I think Ner'zul was kind of a weak Lich King. There's nothing about Ner'zul which "undead frozen version of Sauron" really matched with. Ner'zul the character was an Orc Shaman and we didn't get any of that with the Lich King. Arthas as the Lich King always struck me as a stronger villain, personally. It's "his" thing, albeit a Ner'zul version of Palpatine would have been great.CTPhippshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04226189019351004118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7876216494183628999.post-70303359698786469422014-10-02T18:03:52.151-07:002014-10-02T18:03:52.151-07:00I also disliked how Kael'Thas was potrayed in ...I also disliked how Kael'Thas was potrayed in the book. It came off as nothing more than an attempt to retroactively justify TBCs weak handling of the character and how it had him jump straight into villainy by showing him as being a jerkass from the start. The Lizard Kinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12820313880174559751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7876216494183628999.post-70666655869937833022014-10-02T17:56:04.708-07:002014-10-02T17:56:04.708-07:00Can't say I agree with your viewpoint on the e...Can't say I agree with your viewpoint on the ending, I hated it. I thought it was a terrible decision to kill off Ner'Zul, especially so unceremoniously and anticlimactic. The Lizard Kinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12820313880174559751noreply@blogger.com
